Morning

I'm looking to purchase my first triathlon Bike, preferably new,  where is the best places to do some shopping for them in Gauteng?

What do you guys suggest in terms of make and model?

I'm not a contender for the podium, but enjoy the sport.

Thanks

I don't know of many bikes TT/tri-bikes that you can pick up for new at that price. I think you could pick up a Cervelo P2 - which is a decent bike. You would get more bang for your buck if you buy second hand. There are some amazing deals here on the Hub and on the various Facebook pages.

Edit:

I stand corrected:

Even though Cube is not that popular in SA, I have heard some really good things about that brand.

a quick question.

If you go second hand, do you still have a guarantee on the frame as you would if you buy it new?

My only concerns with buying second hand is that you buy a bike and in a view months time you realized that the frame is cracked or something like that?

Or am I being paranoid over nothing?

I am sure most sellers would be open to having the bike inspected by a professional before purchasing it.

Cube is R50k, I have one and love it,

Go to Troisport, great shop, they have a few Treks, maybe still a Cube or two, and good Quintana Roo's for that price

Re Swift, they have a clearance sale on currently - check the promotion ad on the classifieds here. Just get clarity on their future here in SA.

You might want to check what size bike you need first.  Do you know?

Nothing wrong with a second TT bike, they are generally well looked after and as you do not bunch race like a road race are unlikely to have been in a crash.

All the shops listed above will have TT bikes.  I know Cycle Lab also has some BMC, Scott and other TT bikes although they are not a specific tri shop
