ABrooks Posted November 18, 2017 Posted November 18, 2017 If everyone could just rate the seller when they buy something it would be easier for everyone to get an idea on how legitimate someone is. Unfortunately people seem to forget to rate the seller or even the buyer when the deal is done.

Report any of these activities to Admin, rather have the members removed than simply rated badly. Most of these scammers won’t have much rating or activity on their profiles.

But I guess the scammer is probably a druggy or gamer (!) living with his mom, too lazy and skelm to get a real job. You would also be surprised how well some locals from Paarl can speak Afrikaans. Probably better and more pure compared to some inhabitants north of the Jukskei.

Unfortunately people seem to forget to rate the seller or even the buyer when the deal is done.Ratings are definitely important and I'd strongly encourage buyers and sellers to rate and request a rating post every transaction. However, in this case this individual appears to be an outright scammer and acted very quickly. While ratings may have helped this type of user should be reported to us immediately so that we can suspend the account pending further investigation. Furthermore I'm strongly encouraging all those affected to open a case with SAPS against this individual. He should go to jail.

Most of these scammers won’t have much rating or activity on their profiles.I agree that this is a different case, I meant that this should be something everyone does to help the people buying make an informed decision on whether to trust the person or not in the case where we cannot meet the seller in person.

Kaggel Posted November 21, 2017 Posted November 21, 2017 Hi Hubbers I fell victim to this guy. I am trusting and have done MANY sales on the hub in the past with no bad results. This time it didn't work out. I spoke with "Arno" on the phone, via text and whatsapp. Definitely an Afrikaner guy or someone doing a very convincing Afrikaner accent. Probably a burner number though... The ATM he used to withdraw the cash should have a camera which can be used to identity him or his accomplice. This is a key identifying detail and possibly the only one we have. If anyone has any further information (including other victims), please PM me so I can use this to assist with laying the charge. To say I am pretty sad about this is an understatement. But I guess it will change my behaviour next time.

This may ultimately prove to be fake, but it is part of the info I will use to build the case to nail these buggers. For those interested in pursuing this further, please PM me so I can hand over the details of how you have been scammed to the police. So far I have two other users besides myself
