Bound to go only one way as usual!

Hi Cyclists of the
Cradle of Humankind,

its great to have you in our area and welcome!

just two things i want to ask of you.

the cradle is our home, and its always amazing to share the beauty of it with others, unfortunately so few people respect our home. this morning i checked and the amount of water bottles and energy bar wrappers on the side of the road is crazy. please respect our home and bin your trash. people in this area make livings from livestock and wildlife. these animals are are being very badly effected because they eat the rubbish some of you leave laying around. its a world heritage site, if you cant keep it clean, please go ride elsewhere.

please also ride in the cycling lanes. a lot of money has been put into this area for these lanes, yet few ride in them. i drove around a corner the other day. a truck was coming in the opposite direction. 5 ... yes 5 cyclists... riding next to one another and not one bothered to move out of the way. im happy i had enough space to Stop, because if it came down to me hitting a truck head on or hitting a cyclist, i think you know which i would choose to run over. please dont be idiots, stick in your lanes. its not just your safety, its for the safety of everyone driving / riding on our roads.

to the rest of the good, decent people, Thank you for respecting our space! means alot. Happy riding and thanks 1f642.png :)

But to be honest I will occasionally find gel wrappers in the Magalies area even when there hasn't been a race in the area (lots more when there is!)....

So a local resident is asking cyclists to be considerate. What's wrong with that?

Nothing at all, but what I meant was you just know how the comments are going to go...

Nothing wrong with a resident asking people to be considerate.

Hopefully now that all the 94.7 par timers have hung their bikes up till next year September, it should be a lot less congested.

If it is coming from a non-cyclist, I think the person has a LOT of patience to ask in such a civil manner.

As a cyclist asking a fellow cyclist to be considerate, I often have much less patience as the expected reply is usually to mind my own *^&*^£$ business. And that is in the general public. If it affects my property and livelihood, who knows how many times a day I'll blow my top...

I think she is pretty cool about it !

Wrapper's and 5 abreast is certainly not going to endear us to anyone  !

I'm not quite sure where the whine is? She is very kindly and courteously making a request for roadies to stop being pricks by littering and violating road rules.

OK OK! Maybe whine was a bad choice !!

But I had someone complaining to me yesterday about cyclists and how they ride all over the road etc etc...

All that because they asked what do I get up to in the area....and I said I cycle around a bit....!

A bit off-topic, but I see there's a set of new signs, or at least new to me, having gone up in the cradle over the last few weeks. Something along the lines of "Please respect other cyclists and road users."

Currently one near Kinjara, one at the Lindley circle and possibly elsewhere. Good initiative -  I wonder who put them up?
