We use insulation tape here in the Free State

Bud... We are not talking contraception methods here... ????

Personally I find the silicon grips give me neuromas on my hands - so gone back to lock on grips

Very personal choice this...

For me it's Oury Lock on grips. I found silicone grips comfy, but slippery. The Ourys grip like sand paper, but are nice and thick and absorb vibrations, so it gets my vote. I always ride with gloves with no padding.

ESI's, I swear by them. Run them on my rigid SS, 120mm DS and my trials bike. I find find that they absorb a lot more of the shock, and with my glove combo they do not get slippery when wet.

I do however have a set of lock rings on the inside on the trials bike to stop them from slipping in. No such issue on the other 2 bikes.
