Hi all, not ridden Tokai in yonks. Am now on a gravel bike and was wondering if from carpark to mast was doable on a gravel bike. fear not, i'm slow up and slow down, so nothing to fear!!

Can definitely do it on a gravel bike.  The bit that used to be really rough before the tar road has been concreted, and getting to that point is easy jeep track.

It is. If you start spinning out on the loose stuff, just push a bit. Parts of the jeep track are quite eroded, but if a bakkie can get up, so can you! The gradient is another story of course.

trails are getting dusty but still hell of fun, that bottom bit at vasbyt is loose and sandy, which is expected i guess,

i had a bit of an incident on Saturday of riders coming up trails which are descending only, apparently the rider "has lived here all his life", and "who's rules are these"... i just shook my head in disappointment

On a positive note, idiots like them are in the minority. I wonder what he would have said if you'd crashed into him...

he had answer to that too, something along "he knows how to ride and he can see when somebody is coming down the trail"

But would he get out of the way, or say that the climbing rider gets right of way ?
