To clarify: the order in which the 2 loops are done is alternated. The direction of travel is not reversed.

I've no idea but your version is probably more accurate.

Still available? Will find out about Substitutions.

Thanks for the query, already found someone to take it over, but hope still get that entry to enjoy the race.

So the weather looks lovely and great day to be out on the route, but will be interesting with a 9am start, that is going to help of course the main bunch of the riders coming home more mid-day.

Means I can probably shoot through from Cape Town a bit later than normal

We decided that we are going to do the 25km. I have not completed a MTB race since December, and would like to just complete one to bolster my confidence and also to determine if the Vit B12 issue is really what was causing my problems.

My son will off course do the 50km. He has no excuse whatsoever.

Hope everyone got to the finish safely, would rate that second loop as having some real technical sections and the water crossing was very much fun. Anyone got a photo of it?

That was from the Race or Route Director earlier this week.

A real pity the race was so poorly attended, especially for the shorter distances.

Excellent organisation, very good route that is well marked, and the entry fees are one of the lowest of all the races we have done.

Agree with you, probably as this is one of the most jam packed mtb weekends of the year, with Gravel & grape and Houw Hoek happening the same weekend.

What works well for me, is that you come back to the start halfway, think it is a nice touch for supporters to give some encouragement to the riders, as well as the le mans start which adds something fresh to mtb racing. The number of marshals that had vehicles along the route also made me feel much safer.

Do you think the 9am start was perceived as a positive or negative?

9am works for me. Grabouw valley can get really chilly in winters in the morning. Also gives more time for riders coming from the southerns suburbs.

Great event... has been one of my favourite for years!

That river water was slightly cold ey!?

cold yes but oh so refreshing, exactly what my legs needed at that very moment. I would've probably liked it a bit earlier though. I imagine must've caused some problems for the shorter guys?
