FirstV8 Posted March 20, 2018 Posted March 20, 2018 I was at my friends honey farm today and picket up some natural bees wax . I always lubricated my road chain with bees wax and have decided to do same on my MTB . I remove the chain and clean it in a solvent to remove all oils . I then rinse in alcohol to remove all residue left . The wax is warmed in a big enough tin on the stove so that a rolled up chain fits flat in the tin .Leave it on the stove in the liquid wax ( hot ) for about 5 minutes so that wax penetrates the rollers and pins . Remove the chain while wax is still hot and hang it to dry and cool off . I found that on my training bike it would last up to 4 months before needing the same treatment .As long as you wash the chain correctly before placing it in the bees wax you came use the same wax for years . My block of wax that is enough to do the chain .
