Foot Cramp in bed.

I also get calf and foot cramps at night.

I have tried the calcium and magnesium tabs but for some reason cannot keep them in.

Take the magnesium tablets just before you go to bed, otherwise you just pee them out before they've absorbed

I've had the same problem on/off - foot & calf cramps at night, usually associated with a tingly feeling and very small involuntary painless muscle movements in my left calf only

In my case I've figured out that it ALWAYS corresponds with extended periods of high caffeiene (3-5 coffees per day) and little water intake for a prolonged period.

Cutting back to 1-2 coffees/day and drinking 1.5+L water (sometimes with fresh lemon juice added) has always sorted it out, without any other supplements, etc. Usually takes a few days to have the desired effect.

Try it, maybe it works for you too

Loss off electrolytes is a major cause of night cramps. This can be caused by to much caffeine (coke, coffee). Can also be caused by other diuretic foods and drinks. A low carb diet is also known to be diuretic. Major physical activity without purposefully replacing the electrolytes might also cause night cramps. Most of the time, all that is needed is upping your salt intake slightly. Adding extra salt, or consuming a salty soup or broth once or twice a day.
