But no experience in this field what so ever!!

I'm 1.83m tall, what size bike will I be looking for?

PappaBear

I'm 1,87m tall and ride a 58cm frame.

Due to phisiological differences from one person to the next eg longer legs and shorter torso or longer torso and shorter legs, you cannot use your height to determine a frame size.

A good way of checking you ideal frame size is as follows: Stand on a level floor with your back against a wall and your feet about 10-15cm apart and wear a pair of cycling shorts. Put a level between your legs in your crotch without forcing the level too tightly against it...it should feel firm but comfortable.

Make sure the level is level and measure the distance from the floor to the top of the level in cm units and then multiply that by 0,6. Then round off your answer to the nearest size frame available.

OK PappaB so you are as confused if not more now that you have the answers. All depends on leg length etc so suggest you try to get fitted before you spend ypour cash

Its not leg length that's important; top tube length is by far the most important variable when fitting a bike. I'm still amazed by the no. of SA bike shops that "fit" riders by stand over height.

30 minutes later people are talking about long/tall guy fetishes....

Tope tube length can be sorted out by using different length stems, hanlebars with different reaches and seatposts with different setback. Saddles also come in different legths which also help with the amount of forward and backward adjustment.

There is no frame on the market that will suit a person 100% even if you buy according to top tube length.
