Bolts Needed

I snapped a titanium one on my old Tallboy.

Replaced it with a high tensile steel one and never looked back.

I just pressed that last bit of poo out before each ride to negate the weight difference between the old Ti bolt and the steel one.

Reminds me of sani2c so much... Overweight men standing around drinking beer discussing how much they had spent to make their bike as light as possible

Bottom line is though, surely literally no bolt provided standard, especially suspension related, should snap once, never mind repeatedly?

If I remember the OP rides a Yeti. I certainly don't use mine as a jump bike, but I'm not an under fed Strava$$hole either. Maybe treat the cause first. I know Droo is the man when it comes to suspension.

Thanks.. LOL... I ride a Yeti and don't jump much do drop-offs and such but nothing major....  I like the observation of overweight men raging about how much weight they have taken off their bikes at a considerable cost..

Then you need a high tensile bolt, not a Ti one. Ti will break before steel.

Also, if the bolt keeps breaking, chances are there's something else wrong - misalignment, overtorqued, etc etc...

Thanks ... got a bolt from JKM Industrial supplies

Found out the problem... the shaft was the wrong one and was a little short so someone put in an extended bolt to create the length which is where it sheared

I have put a Hight Tensile Steel shaft all the way across.

Thanks for the help guys

BTW... who services Yetis ? as I'm having difficulty gatting parts.

new to the game ... so maybe I have it completely wrong ....

Surely the bolt only takes a pounding after the shock has bottomed out ??????

If you get some unobtanium bolt that wont ever break those excessive forces are going into the FRAME .....

by all means, use the correct high-tensile bolt.  But if the correct bolt is snapping, something else is wrong ...

It wasn't the correct bolt .. it was too short and shearing in the shortness zone.. i got the correct length shaft from JKM

but yes you are right... my rear shock was knackered and needed to be refurbished also i was riding a lot wit the shock on lockout

Many a bolt shop to be found in CT. Topfast in Paarden Eiland has everything you'll ever need, but at a price. Otherwise Bolt-Fast, Bolt-It, Mr Nut & Bolt etc etc. Just find one that's reasonably close.
