winter time

I suffer from cold feet.

The only solution is toe covers (mostly sufficient for Gauteng winters) or booties (same thing but covers the entire shoe instead of just the front half).

You have to keep the cold air out in the first place, simply layering up inside the shoe isn't all that useful as once your feet are cold they can't warm up again no matter how much wool you have in there.

I assume the same principle applies to gloves and the rest of the body for that matter.  Keep the cold air out, don't just layer up.

2 quick fixes.

1. Buy a few pairs of cheap rubber dishwashung gloves to pull over your thermal gloves.  This will keep the cold air out and let your fingers warm up and them when it warms up a bit, you just pull them off.

2. Buy a roll of " Glad Wrap". Wrap your shoes a few times and the same will apply as above.  Again, as it warms up, you just unwrap the plastic and put it in you back pocket.  DON"T CHUCK IT IN THE BUSH!

Both of these work for riding in the rain too.

Slip your foot into the corner of a checkers plastic packet and cut the excess off then put your shoes on.

Put a sheet of newspaper between your undervest and shirt.

Good day all

I did Google this subject and read thehubsa, but still want to hear what is your opinion.

I were 2 pair of glothes, 2 pair of socks and booties before I go out in winter, especially this week in Gauteng

I bought thermal glothes and socks from Discem.

My feet and hands are still freezing after a 3 hour ride.

Any advice.

Old wisdom........if your feet or hands are cold, cover your head.

Wear some surgical gloves under your cycling gloves.

Put a sheet of newspaper between your undervest and shirt.

If none of that helps the only option is rule #5 my friend [emoji41]

too many layers and too much insulation could cause sweatiness to form and make you even colder.

the feet in the bag thing works. I have icy toes due to bad-ish circulation so the plastic does help the heat not escaping and no cold in...
