Hi

I have decided to buy my first bike after entering the Sani 2019.

Really like the Specialized Stumpjumper as well as the new Specialized Epic Evo.

So far I got different opinions on the bike size and is not sure if it should be a L or XL.

I am 1.89m.

Would appreciate some advice in making the decision.

Regards

If you are buying new, the supplier will advise you correctly.

There are too many factors at play to advise you purely on your height.

^^Agreed!!

I think most bike manufacturers will also have a chart on the bike published somewhere to give an indication on sizing.

I am also exactly 1.89m short and my last 3 bikes have all been XL, if that helps.

Most would probably say XL but it all depends on a number of factors... do you have short legs and a long torso, long legs and short torso. That alone is a deciding factor.

Choose your bike and get the bike fitter to advise on the best size suited to your stature.

Since you chose Spaz its easily done instore.

If your buying specialized.

They should have all the fancy kit for doing a proper bike fit.

Chat to the guys at one of the concept stores for the best recommendation on what size to get.

Get a fitting done please... I just bought a frame based on geo numbers and sizing charts because the brand isn't widely available. (tried to get it as close as possible to my old frame). Even though on paper I have the same reach the new bike is too short - expensive mistake to make.

You'll probably end up on an XL (I'm 1.78 and fitted perfectly on a L Stumpy), but like lots of people have mentioned - there are many factors to take into consideration.
