Current state of SAPO deliveries?

I have three packages, about R10k, LOST in the system during the previous strike.

SpeedServices with tracking number and all .... it is just plain GONE ....

And I am the one that SENT those packages. Took it on the chin and resent via courier to keep my clients happy.

I DONT use PostOffice any more !!

The irony of it all .... the couriers are CHEAPER than SpeedServices !!

Hi, which couriers do you use. I am struggling to find an affordable courier to send items overseas. Up until now sapo has been great with overseas deliveries as fast as 11 days! But with the unpredictability after the strike I would like to investigate other options.

There is no way that i would order something that has to come via post office.

Courrier only.

Post office is a disaster.

Told family overseas not to send anything to us EVER!! , birthdays etc, just send a wattsapp.

Mark Barnes, cant see him lasting, he will eventually get the zig with all the gvt political rubbish and head back to purple to get on with his original business.

Cant understand why he would bother to get involved with the fiasco that is the post office in the first place.

Anc should just put in another cadre and get on with it.

I use WorldNetExpress.

BUT, all my packages are in SA ...

I have looked at sending overseas, but the various options are way more than the package ....

Good time to buy local.lol

Just use a courier when you place the local order, post office is local.

Private couriers have reputation to protect as their business depends on it.

Post office SOE, reputational issues meh... Whatever..

Ja, that's the problem. Local is fine, but sending overseas via courier is way too expensive. I'm looking at an average package worth R600 to R800. With international shipping at R900 it doesn't make sense.

I have ordered two parcels from wiggle in April and only one arrived. Apparently now even if you pay extra for a courier it still comes via the post office.

  • 1 year later...

Need some help.. Ordered some goods from Bike24 on 16 June 2020. Good was shipped within 48hrs using DHL-de. Goods arrived CPT 26 June. Goods prep'd for customs and cleared by Monday 29th. Now when i track i have this message...

Mo, 29.06.2020, 10:25The shipment has left the import parcel center in the destination country/destination area.

I've been trying to contact Cape Mail and local Post office, no luck.

Any advice or some guidance will be appreciated

I got some mail in the post today ... probably first time since lockdown. (if not before)

Some indication of the level of postal activity. :(

Check with your local PO in a few days. Just take the print out and they should be able to track it.

Try these 3 email addresses, and request local status of package.

Rhulani.Mthembu@postoffice.co.za, Ndivhuho.Sikhala@postoffice.co.za,  jimccustomerservices@postoffice.co.za

These still worked 1st quarter 2019.

If I understood correctly from when I queried before, DHL-de is contracted by the German government to perform postal service there. Once it leaves Germany it's handed over to our local postoffice /EMS service. Sadly the German online cycle shops like Starbike and Bike24 don't have the option to select "DHL Express". The DHL they refer too is their local postofice service.

Once I get a response from our local postoffice/capemail facility, I usually arrange to collect at their counter in Epping (next to Grand West Casino), rather than wait for mail delivery. Take enough cash when collecting to pay custom duties/tax etc.
