You are of course quite correct... for the majority of people they pick a team based on success.

It's one of the strange modern world quirks for me that I've just never understood... people somehow thinking it makes them special or better because they chose to back some juggernaut team with unlimited funds which ultimately gets a lot of success.

Yah United, Yah City, Yah Real... so much of meh in my books

But hey, I'm one of those weird Spurs fans of three decades, clearly not hunting too much glory :)

And you asked for a reason... I'll give you two words, Paul Gascoigne

Hey, speak for yourself... I’m a Spurs supporter of four decades who is always hopeful of glory, lol...

My two words are Glen Hoddle.

Quite correct... we are Glory hunters, we're just either not very good at it, or taking the scenic route.

But it's all about the journey isn't it

There was a nice article a couple weeks back on the overall rankings of the English clubs the last 50 years... offers some cool insights.

Liverpool of course will be delighted to be ahead of Utd

After the Hicks and Gillett debacle Liverpool are delighted to still be a going concern.

FFP give brownie points for development of youth, ladies and infrastructure...so double yaaay.

I am so very thrilled about the investment going into ladies and youth..makes me so happy.

City were a cool side in the 60s and 70s.In fact they ensured Man United's relegation in 74 by beating them 1-0 in the [second] last game of the season which was pretty cool

Denis Law, of all people the goal scorer that day - he had left United the previous season on a free transfer. He said it was a goal he wished he never scored.

Stoke City was the last game that year, but Utd had already been relegated the week before losing at home to City.

It was on this very day in 1983 that I had to choose: the red or blue team... I chose red, and shortly thereafter I found out that their goal keeper was from SA - one Gary Bailey. 36 years later and I'm still a supporter, having enjoyed the purple patch that was 1992/93 - 2012/13.

The blue team on the day was Brighton & Hove Albion... now that could have turned out completely meh! had I preferred blue as a colour. But I say... when has a Ferrari ever been blue?

I remember that FA Cup Final and Replay. Norman Whiteside made his name. Funny thing is, I always wanted to watch Gary Bailey’s team play; Robson, McQueen, Wilkins, Stapleton... They were an exciting team :team:

And BHA had Jimmy Case, who might have been top goal scorer or contender. They were also quite a formidable team back then.

Think Bailey is the reason why many south African started supporting United

Some business those Cheatski folk get up to... And that’s the fee for managers who they no longer wanted!!

And then they go tapping up youngsters, illegally!!! Duh, brain freeze....

Anyway, I for one have no sympathy for their impending ban
