At 34yo it’s no surprise, except for a club who wants to use his experience in development.

And maybe surprising because it’s not as though ManU have reliable replacements either... :fencelook:

United needs to spend on a experienced leader like a MIlner at Liverpool. The younger leaders, like McTominay and Rashford needs to be be guided on the pitch. Young doesn't play enough to do that.

You look at old United squads - their leaders were pretty much obvious on the field. Keane, Schmeichel, Ferdinand etc etc.  The current squad - you can't see anyone like that on the pitch

Now, how is it possible that the player could have been ruled to gain an advantage off an accidental handball??

With the proximity of the two players and the direction they were running, there is no way that VAR should have ruled against Declan Rice...

So that leaves the game with VAR making the decision, and the referee being a spectator!!

I feel for West Ham and the 2 points lost because of this incident.

It doesn't matter as the rule states that was handball therefore no goal.. if he gained advantage or not is irrelevant as that does not determine handball. (Added if it didn't touch his arm it would've gone passed him in any case)

Is the rule harsh.. yep.. it is harsh because the rule for defense and attack is different in certain situations... but that's the rule. VAR is upholds the rule... if they want to cry about it take it up with the rule makers.

They wanted to minimize interpretation on handball..rules makers then do that..now that it a problem too... sigh.

This is where I have a real issue with the handball rules. Van dijk an alderwereld incidents were clearly handball but not given.

VAR is giving us the tools to analyse incidents if this nature an appears to be very divisive. Like all innovation will have some disruption I guess

It isn't the rule, the rule is very clear... it is the VAR Ref reviewing the footage. Edited by Gen

The Van dijk incident wasn't conclusive... There was no angle that clearly shows the ball in contact with his hand/arm although it may have appeared that way.

Even tho that specific incident wasn't reviewed, the goal was fair!

United need a lot of things.. being able to convince top class players to join is their biggest problem.

I did not have any skin in that game but it clearly looked to be a handball.

I guess one goes the way of ones biases but if VAR is to be adopted by the fans watching live and on tv it needs to have some refinements. Its to disruptive at the moment.

I hear this case for “...gaining and advantage...” but we still hear a refereeing analyst clearly state that it was ruled “...because the player gained an advantage...”

So this is where I have a problem: if that consideration is not in the rules, then it should not have been discussed or interpreted as the reason for upholding the handball. VAR is also not the refereeing decision maker. The on-field referee can also overrule VAR if he reviews using the pitch-side video...

Maybe we should also consider that it may not be a problem of the rules, but interpretation and application of the rules which seems to be problematic. Of course it new and will have teething issues, but that doesn’t make the system acceptable, yet...

Thanks guys, I really do appreciate all the views on this here Fred :fred:

Got a big one coming up tonight, so I hope that Jose Moanrinho has the stars aligned for his troops

COYS

Was just talking my mate Rob, a through and through spurs fan. Has been since birth. Only wears spurs branded clothing, watch , backpack etc etc.

An I said to him you gotta stop Liverpool today cos should they win the league their fans will be unbearable.

His response. They already won it. Can’t see anyone stopping em.

I kinda concur. With half the spurs squad sick, lame, demotivated, lazy it would take a miracle today.

Now we just got to put 10 past Leicester
