How on earth can he say Bardet or Woods have never doped?

Years ago blind fanboys would have sworn on their mother's lives that Lance was clean.

Pretty sure our mums would all shake their heads knowing that people are saying nothing good quite unnecessarily.

Would we have the same reaction if Daryl Impey won?

If he is doping now, then that sucks, but realistically if he is, I wouldn't swear blind that Bardet or Woods aren't.

Fans and reporters can be very hypocritical

just the other day they praised a convicted doper for winning the Vuelta, and they were also pushing for a previous doper to be represent the riders ..seems it all depends on the nationality of the person in question..strange isn't it..

Extremely strange yes and this is why I try and avoid any doping related discussion in general.

I just love a good race and like everybody have riders I like and support.

Best race of Worlds?? I feel like the mens Junior race was great to watch just because of the outright dominance...same goes to the Woman elite race..just pure dominance.

Nail biter for me was obviously the Mens race that came down to the sprint.

"Amidst the joy and relief for Valverde, his win will, of course, be met with scepticism given that he served a two-year ban for doping following the Operacion Puerto investigation and has refused to admit guilt or discuss doping."

And there is the difference. He is one of the last of that era that are still in the sport. He's done his time for his crime but there has never been acknowledgement, discussion or an attempt to confront the past and use it to work on the future. Same feeling as when Vino' took the medal in London. It's not 'hating' per se it's hating the drugs, the cheating and the flagrance that have brought this sport to it's knees previously.

As for the 'convicted doper' who won the Vuelta, difference there is that the UCI themselves called it a 'non intentional' result and at least David Millar has worked pretty endlessly and vocally form the anti doping lobby since coming back.

I really hope anyone else wins. I can't bare the thought of Mr Peak 365 wearing the Rainbow strips for a whole 365  :excl:

Any chance he decides to retire in the off season

Three years of dominance from Peter Sagan has been ended by a 38-year-old who shows no sign of slowing up. The former banned rider has been consistently strong, if not stronger since his doping ban and he comes out on top today. Valverde is heading to the podium to pick up the rainbow jersey from UCI President David Lappartient.

The cycling news live commentary didn't sit on the fence here!
