any rim boost compatible?

Hi there hubbers,

 

quick question, can any rim be used with a boost hub?

 

thinking of building a custom wheelset by purchasing the components separately and having a pro wheelbuilder put it all together. upgrading a 2017 spark 940.

Yes, any rim can be used with any hub as long as they have the same amount of holes.

With only 5mm to a side difference I don't see any problem using any rims on boost hubs will only end up with a little stiffer wheel.

Obviously the spoke count needs to be the same as grease monkey said.

cool thanks, was concerned that maybe not just any rim spoke eyelets could accommodate the larger spoke bracing angle from a boost hub.

Boost specific rims are available from the same guys that make 29er specific saddles...

I get why the OP asked it - that increased angle at the rim eyelet is minimal though. I have also gone ahead an bought some seamingly obviously compatible parts when I started out that didn't fit. Bike parts are expensive, rather safe than sorry.

Boost flanges aren't much further apart than SS specific hubs, which have been around for yonks....

Any rim can work with a BOOST hub.

 

The cool thing is that the spoke lengths and tensions will be much more similar on a boost wheel than non-boost, making the wheel stronger.

 

There's thus no real need to consider asymmetric rims.
