runners and how to deal with them?

All I am saying is that maybe you should try to treat the runners the same as you would like the motorists to treat cyclists.

Fair enough, but being hostile won't really solve anything and there is one of me..and lot's of them, so treating them the same way motorists treat cyclists probably won't end well! (for the lone cyclist)

Interesting indeed...I am a trail runner..ONLY...I abhor the hard stuff...BUT herein also then lies the question...

When on a trail I am acutely aware of ANY MTBer on the trail ...not too difficult to catch a sound of a MTBer bombing down/along a given trail...I ALWAYS give way to them with a greeting along the lines...."Thanks for keeping the trails clean guys...".

Recently I have acquired a decent trail MTB and myself enjoy riding the trails ....AND ...many of the trails I run in my area I have "stolen" from MTBers off of STRAVA....

So as to runners , roadies as they are referred to , STOP being chops and let the cyclists go past safely ...very easy to hop up OR down from the pavement BUT then again roadies are not that nimble it seems ...hehe...maybe they should come run some trails....

Do you have difficulty reading or do you just see what you want to. I didn't say treat them like motorists treat cyclists, I said treat them like you would like the motorists to treat cyclists.

As you admit in your first paragraph you are not a roadie.... so stating that all roadies are chops when you do not know for certain or is in fact... fact.... maybe stick to the dirt but try to keep the mind clean and open!!

Like everything in life 99% are good, but you do get the odd chop who ruins it for everyone, whether running, cycling or driving a car!!

a- yes, actually I'm dyslexic,

b- that's what I do -treat every user of the road the way I would want to be treated, respectfully.

Aaahh...I got a bite....let me re phrase and apologise ....WHEN a roadie rocks up to run a trail with us and when the said roadie is TOLD to make sure they have hydration and rock up with a 350mil bottle in said hand and at the 15k mark ask where are the water points???...one word CHOP....BUT...each to his own and as my wise ole Granny once said ...you got nothing nice to say...keep quiet...the defence rests your honour...one more thing....running trails will certainly OPEN ones mind ....

Hehe...they on about the comrades...as one ardent and very tough trail runner once said the Comrades is for sissies...come run The Munga....

Oooh fighting talk. Lots of trail runners on that thread... Some people are capable of running and riding on multiple surfaces

Yes it has been seen many a time that a trail runner thinks they are superior to road runners.... must be the funky pants you all wear!!

And as you wish to slag off the comrades runners... perhaps spend some time reading that thread and you will find most are also trail runners of the 50-100 Mile distance and not your piddly 15-25kms that you seem to enjoy!!

But hey, you were not even open minded to actually spend some time there reading it before slagging them off.....
