Multisport Watch upgrade

Hi Guys

I am in the process of looking at a new multi -sport watch. I currently use an Apple Watch 2 and mainky use it for the following:

Cycling

Golf

Running

Swimming

Activity tracker

Multiple workout options

HR

What annoys me about the iwatch is that it doesn’t look like a traditional watch to me, and the battery life sucks!! Have to charge it every day.

Watches I have my eye on at the moment:

Iwatch 4 ( just because I’m familiar with the device and have an iPhone ) not 1st choice...

Garmin forerunner 935

Garmin Fenix 5 ( I bit outside of my budget )

Not sure what else there is? Golf, running, and cycling with the hr are the most important functions for me.

Any advice based on your own experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Had the 935 since beginning of the year. Must say the only issue I have with it is the fact that it doesn’t have Garmin Pay. Other than that it is an awesome watch.

Fenix all the way. I've got a 3 HR. Very happy with it - can do anything from golf to open water swimming to cycling to SUP. Battery life amazing, easy to use, and a quality product.

It looks like a nice dress watch which can be worn with t shirt and jeans or dressed up with the analog face. IMO the best every day watch out there.

Throwing golf in the equation leaves you with what you have listed.

I have a Polar V800. The wive has an Apple Watch

The Apple Watch is a very good smart device, and definitely the better watch day to day between the 2. But I will never classify it as a Multi Sport Watch.

Yes, it’s a watch that do record multi sport activity, but a sport watch, especially for events, not so much. Look it will work, but it will frustrate many a half serious athlete.

Some examples

1 - 3,2,1 coundown, no start on button push

2 - no in event average heart rate for example

3 - no tri mode

4 - no power I believe

So if it was my money, Fenix 5

Fenix or 935 depending if you like a bulky or slim (light) feel and look. Best out there by far IMO. I’m using a Fenix.

I mean damn, thing even has an Uber app when I’m traveling that shows me where my ride is! In the office, out playing or whatever... the Fenix performs.

If you like the Fenix 5 then what about the fenix 3? I have the 3 HR, I know its getting a little long in the tooth, but its a rock solid watch.

It has the golf option but I don't know what thats about, otherwise swim, bike, run, wattbike and trial is what I use it for.

Yip, seriously no reason not to look at the Fenix 3, if you don't have the budget for the 5... also you can always pic up a near new bargain here on the hub from time to time on either model.

Garmin Fenix 3 Sapphire is amazing both in terms of functionality and battery life, still does everything you need it to even though it's technically obsolete. So if you can find one I'd recommend that. Otherwise definitely the Fenix 5, may be pricey but it will last you.

Thanks for the advise guys. Did some serious research into all my options. I found an awesome deal on a new Fenix 5 for 7k - I have already pulled the trigger, can’t wait to put it to use ????
