I agree that carbon is ok. I'm wondering about my Alu fork. I'm thinking of putting it on the velcro of my shoe even though not recommended and the ankle strap seem irritating

I think You may be over thinking the matter.

Put it anywhere lowdown on a part that will travel over the mat. I have had it on a anklestrap, fitted with a cable tie to a metal fork, carbon stay, even tucked it in my sock when I did not have anything else.

There are multiple mats at the finish and even if one misses it, you will be picked up by the majority.

if it dropped signal on metal forks it would do the same on carbon...hence why it isn't doing anything for most people on either for whatever reason. the warnings are precautionary to cover themselves.

in motorsport you also don't in general mount your transponder with any metal or carbon fibre between it and the timing loop on the ground. if you do and you get timing glitches and or dropped laps as a result...it is all on you. Not alot of ppl actually know, but carbon fibre conducts electricity and can generate it too in a magnetic field.

I have mine permanently cable tied to my alu fork. I have never not been picked up by the mats.
