Shivek Singh Posted December 10, 2018 Share Hey guys, Im looking to buy a new road bike but i dont know which one to settle on. I currently have in mind the Merida Scultura 5000 and the Merida Reacto 5000. Can someone help me decide or reccomend other bikes in this Category that I should look at. Duane_Bosch Posted December 10, 2018 Share Giant TCR and Giant Propel. Same pricing and spec ranges. If you look around and ask nicely you might be able to pick up a 2016 or 2017 model at a bargain price. I'm guessing your budget is around 30k? You should get a Giant or Merida Carbon bike with Shimano 105 (Or Ultegra if you are lucky) for that. Retail on the Giant TCR Disc is +-27k. It's got discs but has a sort of hybrid system that allows you to run the regular 105 brake hoods. BTW. Everyone else is going to tell you to scour the classifieds and buy 2nd hand and try to convince you that a 2011 Trek Madone with 10 speed ultegra is somehow better than a brand new Giant or Merida. I will look at the bicycles you have mentioned and will take them into cosideration. Out of the 2 I'd get the Reacto. Just coz it looks cooler. The Scultura is pretty plain jane in the looks dept IMO.

Zorro5614 Posted December 10, 2018 Share The Scultura is maybe a lighter climber bike The Reacto is more for flats if you can average about 35km/h
Wayne pudding Mol Posted December 10, 2018 Share Buy a decent 2nd hand colnago with campy bits - Thank me later for the 10k saving now and the 10k you make when your bike appreciatesAnd that's just the financial side of things........
