I read a tip many years ago about dropping a blob of hot wax into the bolt head....since then I've always done it and never had issues....then again ive not managed 4 years out of a pair of cleats! Mine always seem to lose their clipping ability after about 18 months.

And good quality hex keys...winner.

Only just got the jist of your tip: It fills the hex pocket to prevent grit and grime from clogging it, so when you want to remove the fastener the hex hole is pristine. Nice.

ja. But of a sloppy description but it does work. And I also blob it all over the cleat to help seal any holes between the cleat and shoe.what isn't needed tends to fall off of wear away.

I stripped mine a while ago. Not completely round as yours might be now, but I placed a normal small rubberband over the hole and then used the same hex on top of the rubberband..it gripped and I got it out like that.

Lots of great advice above.

My own first "go to" hack is to use a Torx wrench. Only after that fails, which is not likely, I get moerig and get the drill out.
