Whitey.e - anybody know this person?

I managed to get hold of the guy. He said he would try and resolve things here, publicly. So please try and have an open mind and let the guy state his case

What do we need to keep our minds open to, that there's a possiblity the guy struggles to type on a keyboard and hence couldn't reply to Andrew's messages?

"It’s been a month now, still no refund and being completely ignored."

Spot on! Just like that!

I fear he might not have told you the complete truth...

He was online when you posted this and obviously chose not to respond.

That may very well be true, or what he told me about someone else logging into his account and changing the login details is true. It's not up to me to decide that.

The bottom line is that we can all be sure now that he know's the situation (I sent him a link to the thread), and has stated that he will rectify it. If he doesn't then that is on him

I just want to get the history clear in my own mind here:

  1. The person that started this thread had some trouble with him as a seller but that got sorted out eventually.
  2. The ensuing conversation indicates that the seller seems to have had a number of good dealings with reputable Hubbers in the past. Some met him in person. He seemed nice.
  3. AndrewMo picked up on this thread and has run with it due to his own issues with the seller. To date he's still waiting for a refund because the thing he bought never arrived and the seller agreed to refund him.
  4. Whitey.e has apparently been online a few times, which makes us think he's still around and is just not honoring his side of the bargain

Is this roughly correct?

Who knows, maybe he just stays logged in on his computer but it's his kid/wife/colleague that is looking around on the hub (updating the "last active status") and has no idea who Whitey.e is. So maybe the actual seller hasn't been near a computer for ages for some reason.

Maybe he's unwell.

Maybe (and no offence meant) but AndrewMo has all his facts wrong.

The seller is unlikely to have turned rogue and even less likely to have been a scammer from the beginning. I'm inclined to believe that there's likely to be some sort of reasonable explanation.

edit: just seen Schmorglebot's post.

You are so wrong it's laughable, you guys drinking buddies perhaps... (Rhetorical, don't care.)

In response to #3. I created my own post totally unaware of this one. Mine was merged due to being related. Please done assume things, saying I have my facts wrong without you knowing the facts making you a hypocrite. :stupid:

I've sent PM upon PM with no reply, and yes they have been read. SMS/WhatsApp the same, no reply.

Initially he was willing to make right and then just started ignoring me instead in the hopes I would go away.

Retort...

Simple communication goes a long way in preventing situations like this from ever happening...

Ignoring people after you've promised to make right makes you a liar and a coward and ultimately an a$$hole.

So...? Did any comms take place between Whitey.e and AndrewMo over the long weekend?

Schmorglebot got through to him so his excuses for not getting back to Andrew since then would need to be creative...

None that I’m aware of. ????

As I said, no offence meant. I didn't assume anything. I was unsure of the history so tried to put a timeline together and then asked if it was correct. I then said "Maybe x is the case", "Maybe y is the case.." etc. This was all because the other party had not had a chance to have their say, and I've seen enough lynch mobs form on bike hub and then reluctantly dissipate because they didn't know the full story.

No need for the personal attack or name calling. I hope you get your money back.

But there's a fairly simple solution to get his stack of positive ratings down

I'm sure if everyone on this thread posts a negative rating on behalf of the two fellas that have been wronged then he'll soon look like a scammer with very little positive ratings   :D

Who's going to go first? I'm just quickly making some popcorn  :)

I beat you too it... but then it was pointed out he'll just come back as someone else

It doesn't sit well with me him sitting relatively pretty with a generally positive rating
