Duane_Bosch Posted July 2, 2019 Share It's a Muddy Mary tho. Not a Magic. it's got a 3 in a star. and it says First Ride on the side. Sorry I don't know Schwalbe tires.
Hairy Posted July 2, 2019 Share When you have a clearer idea on which tyre you are selecting, check with the local LBS where you are going and make sure they stock the same tyre ... then make your final call based on this. Last thing you want is to be getting your groove on with a tyre, get it slashed and then not being able to find an exact replacement ... then you spend the next couple of runs gaining confidence in the tyre and trying to get the pressures just right. gummibear
Duane_Bosch Posted July 2, 2019 Share M. Thanks all. I think I'm just gonna leave the Minion on the front. I'm familiar with it and the ball ache of reseating the MM is just not worth it for me. I'll take a spare MM for if I burn through the rear which seems likely. Captain Fastbastard Mayhem and Hairy

Simon123 Posted July 2, 2019 Share There's about 10 bike shops in Morz and a similar number in Les Gets. supply won't the an issue. Price however.... Torico has plenty and ALL Maxxis. But get the bike park specific Magic Mary if need be (we can make other Simon fit it) at EUR20 or something stupid. It's wire bead, but designed specifically for a week of being f*cked like a $2 hooker in a port town. I'll be running Assegai front and DHF back on the M16, but you already knew that. And I have the DHF spare here too, and can bring along. That's all folks. I just pray Duane doesn't rock up next Saturday having fitted Ikons. Odinson Posted July 2, 2019 Share Tyre choice for the bikepark-y Alps: DH casing, hard compound, wire bead. If you're going to buy new, slap a Maxxis Griffin on the back and a DHF upfront.

Duane_Bosch Posted July 2, 2019 Share Torico has plenty and ALL Maxxis. Torico is run by brits. They are far too hard working and courteous. I'll rather go to Alan (pronounced Ahlain) where they will mount the tire backwards and call me an AR-sole for pointing that out and I can get shat on for touching the kit with my muddy paws. Aaaaah the full France experience. * Yes all of that happened there. Edited July 2, 2019 by Duane_Bosch Captain Fastbastard Mayhem

Duane_Bosch Posted July 20, 2019 Share How is the 26er and the tyre choice holding out?The rear will be going in the bin before the bike gets packed. It's wearing out proper fast. The bolt holding my brake pads in on the brake caliper sheared somehow so I'm borrowing a set of zee's. Gonna give the bike a little love and myself a rest this morning. Back on the pipe this afternoon. It's been super dry. Rode Morgins yesterday. Omg. So good. Edited July 20, 2019 by Duane_Bosch
Captain Fastbastard Mayhem Posted July 20, 2019 Share Yeah, that vert star compound was their race day compound for a reason. ????
Duane_Bosch Posted July 20, 2019 Share Yeah, that vert star compound was their race day compound for a reason. Not too stressed. You easily blow through a rear tire and a set of pads in a week here. 5000m of descending is a chilled day here.
