Upgrade or not from titan

Recommended Posts

Hi there

I have a top of the range Titan from 2014. 29er. I am thinking of upgrading. Maybe a lighter bike? I hear Titan is notoriously heavy. Any thoughts or advice here?

Titan might have a bit heavier frame and cockpit.  Think their wheels also not the greatest, but compare well to competitors. The groupset and fork however do compare really well to competitors

Like the Titan Drone Pro that can be had at about R17k.  RS Reba and near full GX Eagle

Hallo

Thank you everyone. It is the titan expert. Hydraulic disc brakes

Shimano gears and derailer. Air suspension. Hard tail. 3x 9 gears.

Alluminium frame. Not sure of weight. I just heard people say titan is heavy.

Weigh yourself on your bathroom scale the pick up your bike and weigh yourself again, subtract the two ...if it weighs more than 12kg its heavy for a hardtail

Is the only reason why you want to upgrade because of the weight of the the bike?

More details would get better responses.

Don't think you will get a Titan HT under 12kg.  Even the top end Drone Prone is mentioned at just over 12.3kg

We can't decide whether you need a new bike or not. That's up to you.

If you're looking at alternative bikes because you have an itch and you feel its time for a change. Then let us know what you're considering and we can help you with how it would compare and whether its good value or not.
