The road narrows drastically with concrete barriers on both sides and the road surface there is pretty shoddy as well. Lost 1 bottle at the bumpy Umlaas road turn so had to manage with 600ml for 80km in the heat ! Was such a mission to get guys to do turns on the front, we had about 5 of us pull a group of 20 odd all the way down the M13 into town. I asked guys to come forward a few times but no one showed, then suddenly with 500m to go everyone was at the front, like really, what are you chasing down the 5 second saving for. Saw one guy laying on the rod, but his head was up, and looked conscious, but in pain. Heard the organizers bussed a load of riders from Bothas Hill to bear the finish because of the heat.
