thanks.

assume they do nipples and brass washers also.

Depends on the length. I searched/called/emailed a lot of guys here in SA when I was building my new wheels for my tandem. "standard" lengths are not a mission but I needed really short ones and double butted was a no go. I eventually imported another brand of spoke.

Double butted you need to supply the length. You can't cut too much off otherwise you defeating the point of double butt.

You are in South Africa so don't expect the earth from any local agent.  They will only stock what they can sell, which is the spokes for the wheels that they stock.

Any of the "brand" double butted spokes are pretty much interchangeable as long as they use Sandvik steel and are the same size.  Brass nipples and rim washers are readily available.

I can cut and thread but I would recommend that your wheel builder measure the components rather than using online figures.

Hi Dave

Long time...

I'll see if I can measure, like to do the home work, to learn, as much as possible, I have dropped a email to CK, sure they will be able to advise also, think they might have build a wheel or 2 during the hub designs...

guessing you have stock of spokes, nipples and washers ? in lengths as per below, remember Johan had that spoke cutter/threader, guessing you have it now.

Wheelsmith is about the only spoke brand where you can find all the lengths in DB14 available locally

J bend lengths of about 250 mm to 300 mm (246 mm for Wheelsmith) are available from a number of SA agents - usually in 2mm increments .  If you are going to repair a wheel just be sure to use like for like.  Wheelsmith DB14 are 2mm/ 1.7mm/ 2mm while DT Swiss (Competition), Pillar and WTB are 2mm /1.8mm /2mm.  Sounds close but they behave very differently when building.

Straight pull spokes are another story.  After hours of hunting I brought in my own stock and can do 209 to 300 mm.  Covers most carbon road and mtb rims.

ok... vague. i'm assuming ridged here refers to the 1.7mm spokes.

which are not as elastic. I'm guessing we want elastic, ridged normally means break in in this type of world where some give is good.

but then reference are made "when you are building" is this only then, or do we have a problem further down the single track.

I ordered from these guys. I am happy with the spokes. There are some cool options as well. I wanted the wing spoke but never ended up getting for a number of reasons.
