So I bought a Sunrace 10 Speed 11-46T rear cassette the other day....

Now I'm wondering if I should have also bought a hangar extender?

Anyone running this on a 1x setup with a normal derailleur and hangar? Did you just use a longer B screw?

Thanks

I have one of them. Works 100%. 10 speed XT derailleur.

Just a thing or two: Take the bolt out and grease it before installing. It seizes (galling) up in the extender if you do not do it. I learned the hard way.

Thanks, did you use a longer chain than a 116 link? Its a medium hard tail....

I did a post of this exact upgrade. Used the Rapide hanger extender and added a couple of links, cant remember exactly how many. Ill post a link to my thread.

I took the chain around the chainring and the 46 tooth at the back without going through the derailleur, and then added about 7 full links. Using my long cage XT Deore derailleur with 34 oval. Not sure if i counted the links correctly, maybe have a look on the photo? Hope it helps bud.

Initially i calculated the chain length using that formula which is prescribed elsewhere on the hub, which resulted in the chain being too short. Then i added more links. Let me count the links quickly...

Thanks, seems your KMC chain is 114 links? Did you add/remove any links?

OK, your last post answered this question...

I bought a 116 link chain which would have been too short anyways. I count 120 links, keep in mind im running a 34 oval up front. Which sounds about right, took 3 links off initially then added 7.
