https://www.strava.com/activities/2933621406[/quotes]lekker Waldo, I’ve also started with the Tokai Mast on Saturday but I don’t think only one ascend is going to cut it, maybe for 3 or 5 times up and down perhaps

....talking about training,  I have one more tip for the newbies to this event.

Start going to the casino and sit around the poker tables.....

.....do not play obviously, but just sit and observe those folk with the good hands, trying to bluff the others ......this should help come you come Feb, when you are dealing with the ooms at the water tables, when they tell you the climbing is almost done !!

Anyone doing the Rapha 500 challenge this year? Seems like my calendar has opened for the 1st time in ages to be able to complete it this year, I'll just be sure to add some climbing in there as well.

I’m gonna try, but traveling at least one of the days so that will have to count as my rest day.

t is gonna be a tricky one as I leave for a week break (Without a bike), on Sat - think 150 kms over three days on my beloved dikwiel might leave to instant divorce ! and eina boude

Nothing wrong with clocking 200kms in one day, if anything is to come of it, then at least you'll have sufficient endurance for the Imbuko Challenge

Waldo usually does 450kms in 12 hours on his road bike.

Entry fee was R375 last year. This year its R650

Why the massive increase?

I'm sure the Epic the main reason for the price increase... That said this event was probably my highlight of 2019 (as far as events i entered) so will def be back next year again.
