Has anyone got any experience with these tyres?

I'm about to pull the trigger and buy 2 of them as I'm tired of the Giant giava tyres on my bike, added to that the rear has a slice in it that keeps giving me problems.

Takealot has them for R815, I've got them loaded in my cart. Reviews seem good, but for me its alot of money right now and i want to make sure before I hit the buy button.

I'd buy from bikemob if they had more than 1 in stock as I want to get some Enduro seal from them too.

Have popped them an email to see if they dont have more lying around.

If Bikemob doesn't have stock, you can also check Evobikes?

I have not tried them, but am also quite interested.

According to this article, they are not quite as fast as some other tyres, but very good against punctures.

What size are you looking at? My bike currently has 28 Continentals on, but I'm trying to figure out if the 32s would fit.

I'm not a fan of the wider tyres from a looks point of view. I grew up in the era of 19mm tyres. So the 25mm I have at the moment are wide for me, but I'm thinking of going 28mm.

Just got a reply from Bikemob, they are able to get stock, so I'll be placing my order.

Fair enough :)

I just checked, the GrandSport Race 28s that I currently have on, already measure around 30mm on the rims, so probably don't need to go wider. And if the 32's also measure 2mm wider, they might be within a prayer of rubbing the frame.

Haven't tried them, but I'm interested to hear your feedback, I like trying new things. GP5000TLs have been my best tubeless by far, CWC has a special on them atm 899.

Bikemob are a good bunch of guys. 2 years back I was stuck with a BB issue 2 days before CTCT as I had bought new carbon cranks for the tandem that literally arrived the day we left. We really wanted to use them so proceeded to fit them in Cape Town. They were not compatible with the BBs we had. So on the Friday morning we walked into bikemob and they phoned around and managed to find 2 BBs for us. They got them into their shop, fitted them and by Friday afternoon we were riding. They are forever in my Debt.

yeah, I was not expecting a return email until monday, but they replied right away to say they can have stock by early next week. So have ordered 2 in 28mm size and a bottle of Enduro Sealant.

I'll stick a tube in the current tyre to ride until these are shipped up.

This morning I pulled the bike out to do my normal loop before work, I pumped the wheels and went inside to sort out bottle and put on helmet etc. Next thing I hear the pssssssssssst.

Same cut I patched last week. So made teh decision there and then to stopped stuffing around and put on better tyres and sealant

Beat me to mentioning the GP deal.

The small price difference makes it a tough choice.

I was looking the Perilli a while ago when Bikemob had them on special under R700 but I wasn't really needing tyres then.

They seemed to be a good budget option with supposed better lifespan.

I'm also looking at trying the GP5000TLs, .... interesting that both Egan Bernal and Ivan Sosa from Ineos fell in the Colombian National Championships in Tunja on Sunday, and Team Ineos is sponsored by Continental? Both were front wheel slipping ... wonder if it had anything to do with the tyres they were running?   ;)

I wish I was fast/skilled? enough to push my tyres to those kind of limits  :whistling:. In my experience the grip is awesome on the GP5000s - much better than Gatorskins and on par with the best grip I've had on a road bike tyre. I've used both 25c and 28c - you get even more grip on 28c vs 25c. Just make sure you use proper sealant - Stans does not work, Revoseal has been good for me. Andreas swears by Orange Seal.

I recently installed a set of the Cinturato 32c tyres and found them to be ok.

Long story short, my 2020 Giant Defy came with a (not so nice) PR2 wheelset with Gavia Fondo 32c tubeless rubbers. The Gavia Fondos are fine but the rear hub was not. After a back and forth, the LBS eventually took the wheel back and sent it in for warranty repairs ????.

After waiting a week, I ordered a set of Mavic Aksium Elites from another LBS. I received the Mavics before I got the PR2 back. The Mavics are lighter and I like the 360 hub. The Mavics came with Yksion tyres, 28c. With less than 100km on the tyres, I experienced my first tubeless cut that didn’t seal. It was raining and the roads were wet, I don’t know if this had anything to do with the catastrophic TL failure. It was at this point that I ordered the Pirellis from Takealot. Been riding on the Cinturato 32c for a few weeks and no issues. Happy to sacrifice rolling resistance for puncture protection. BTW I’m 100kg and ride the tyres at 65psi in the front and 70psi in the back.

The Cinturatos were harder to fit on to the rims, I had to

use tools, but I could seat the tyres with a floor pump. The same cannot be said for the Gavia Fondos.

Unintentionally the tyres are colour co-ordinated with the bike.

Other than up and down the driveway I’ve not ridden them yet, only got around to fitting them this afternoon.

Initial feedback is that they’re easier to fit than the Giant tyres. Did not need tools to get them on the rim, still needed to take them to the local petrol station to use compressed air to get the seated, but they seated quickly and without fuss. Also unlike the previous tyres they stayed seated when I deflated again to put sealant in.

I did my normal 55km route yesterday. I was not in the best of health though, started with a stomach ache that lasted the entire ride and then realised during the day yesterday that part of the problem is my body fighting a little virus/infection from teh kids, so I'll need a few more rides to give proper feedback.

Firstly the added width of the 28mm tyres coming from 25mm tyres means more absorption of the little bumps, I could feel this on the rougher roads. The look though still hasnt set in with me, I keep getting the feeling of having gravel tyres on.

Grip wise, although I did not push to hard, through a few bends where I start to get a little cautious on the Gavia's I was more confident in the Pirellis. Its hard to say why, a bit to do with the sound, a bit to do with the feel. I'll need a bit more time to pinpoint it.

But also braking grip, I had to do an emergency stop at one point where a truck got a little close for comfort as the road was narrowing, I also did some hard stops at red lights, where the Gavias would skid a little at the rear these just gripped.

What I did pic up though was there is slightly more tyre noise at speed, I assume this is down to these tyres actually having a tread pattern where the Gavias were slick.

I'll keep this thread up to date with more feedback as I put on more miles.

Another quick update.

Did another 60km with teh tyres yesterday.

First of all the front tyre was completely flat when I took teh bike out the garage. I suspect the tyre was not seated 100%. Some rapid pumping on the track pump got it pumped up. I'll have to monitor that.

Back to the ride

I almost want to say these tyres roll better over rough tar than the gatorskins and Gavias before. There is a particular stretch of road that is always  harder than it looks, ever so slight gradient but the tar is very rough, on Sunday it felt like the bike rolled over the rough stuff with ease.

Handling wise they are giving me more confidence, quick directions changes happen with positive feel.

At one point just before my halfway mark a truck buzzed me and i took the gravel on the side of the road, I did not feel like I'd be in trouble at any point from being on the gravel like I did with previous tyres.
