I am guessing you are talking about the Silverback Storm? The sun ringle is now Stan's hub's if not mistaken. All I can remember is it used small bearings which made them nice and light but needed to be replaced more often than say Hope's.

Reviving this old post.

Had my rear hub fail on me this morning. It is the standard sunringle hub that my silverback stratos came out of the factory with. Seems that the pawls engage whenever they feel like it.

Is this hub serviceable and where will I find parts? Just want to get it going until bonus time in Dec when I’ll probably purchase a new hub.

Thanks guys. I’ll have a better idea Monday afternoon when I take the cassette off. So far indications seem to point to pawl spring failure.

Old steel guitar or piano string wrapped tightly around a bolt and then cut to size.  Finding a pawl spring for most hubs is hell.

Any particular size guitar string ?

Tie the ends together ?  Any special tricks to this ??

UPDATE: The spring is fubar. Pleasantly surprised though when I was told that the freebody will be replaced this afternoon under warranty 😎

Bit of technical feedback ...

The way the spring broke, into 1/3 and 2/3 caused interesting issues.

The 2/3 section would intermittinedly activate the pawls, and engage the hub.

On Saturday the hub stopped engaging 1km into an event .... ouch !

Yesterday when we looked at it .... hub works perfectly !!  Well, might as well open and see what is happening ....  ook maar goed die vloer was skoon, want toe val die stukke af ....
