If Raleigh was so good Probike would not have taken on Scott and relligated Raleigh to the hypermarkets

Jy klink soos hulle opposition. Met Raleigh en Scott gaan hulle kook

MTBaaisikilist  - -- would you tell Kevin Evans or David George or Melt Swanepoel etc  in their faces that Raleigh is K@k?

Raleigh turned the market upside down since they introduced their

upmarket bikes in SA. As a result of that, all major brands had to

re-price most of their bikes, making it more affordable to persons that

prefer other brands. Its a personal choice whether you ride an Opel or

a Toyota  or Honda.  It does not make you inferior to anybody else because of what you decide to ride, unless you are a snob.

stringbean  - Do you really  think Scott would have given Raleigh the agency if they were so bad? I bet you that they have taken notice of Raleigh's performance as a company and supplier of bikes over the last few years, before they took the agency away from the current supplier.

Why Scott was taken away and given to Raleigh is a huge can of worms i don't want to open on the hub but i will say any manufacturer will give the agency to someone else if they think that person will sell more bikes for them.If Raleigh is such a great bike let's just see if it is still around and been promoted just as much a year from nowBig%20smile

No bike has ever won a race. Ever.

Thats the power of marketing, because LA rode a Trek and won the TDF, it must be the best??

Because Kevin or Malcolm won more races here than anybody else on a Raleigh it must be the best??

Rubbish.

LA would have won on any Brand of frame as would Kevin or Malcolm.

Raleigh has done well here generally because it has filled a big gap in the marketplace with an affordable, well specced bike that is percieved as good value for money,...........and thats fine, Kudos to Pro bike for seeing the gap and taking it.

Raleigh, although it was probably not their intention, but they may even have forced prices of international products down in an effort to compete, so I think its been very beneficial to the growth of the cycling market here.

I ride a Cervelo Soloist Carbon. Arguably one of the more 'aero' and more expensive bikes with a string of big race wins via team csc. I you put me ons a top end raleigh in a race my time difference would be zero. I'm quite sure of that.

  • 2 weeks later...

Big%20smileMy 2 cents worth..

I have been a Raleigh Fan since my first road bike in the early 80's

It was a replica of the Raleigh which a cyclist won the 1980 Tour on..

But .. since then I've gone off and back onto Raleigh..

You bunch out there that "Knock" Raleigh are in my opinion " Lost " and being ripped off nicely.......

Most of the bicycles made today are made in Taiwan, in a hand full of carbon / other  bicycle factories.. even some high end Italian cycles do this to save costs...

Dedacciai is an Italian partner for Raleigh S.A they are situated in the small province of Cremona, just outside Milan - Italy, Dedacciai is a small company that is fuelled by passion and technology. So

Raleigh was extremely proud to offer this prestigious and famous brand of tubing on our entire range of Elite Road frames for 2007. So now are you lot knocking the Italian bicycles too?

I ride my Carbon RALEIGH with pride, if I were younger and faster I would do the same, Raleigh has a proud history, It has made many good memories for me. I believe Raleigh is a bicycle, for any rider of any level

Raleigh is in my opinion responsible for keeping our wonderful sport alive in S.A., buy making bicycles affordable for us the masses..

A team or LTD Raleigh in Carbon, is a beautiful Synergy of South African  and Italian team work.. RALEIGH Team &LTD bicycles are in my opinion right on the top, with all the other carbon bicycles, only better cos we can as average Joes actually buy one and ride it
