Hi all

Got a Suntour epicon from a friend and need a replacement axel

only problem is he used stock axle to try beat bearings out of his bmx :whistling:

15x100mm diameter axle is the stock ones length

https://cyclosport.co.za/index.php/buy-now/wheels/skewers-thru-axle/suntour-q15-axle-fka069-15mm

any alternatives ones that wont bankrupt me?

would consider making one but most aluminum stock/tubing is 16mm or 14mm

if anyone could suggest a engineering firm in Capetown that could make one otherwise

Thanks

Suntour axle i the only thing that will fit, but the one you've linked to is Boost. You need the standard one. Agents have stock, any Giant or Suntour dealer can order for you.

Found a piece of copper tube with a od-15mm and a 12mm id *perfect* 1k psi rating too. Then found a 12mm 135mm syntax axle and the nut for it to stick in the pipe as secondary security and the pinch mechanism.

It all fits perfeclty and snug, its way more rigid than that stock one

Took about 10 minutes to make and check clearance is in spec.

Hopefuly it wont kill me

Apologies for the potato photos

the only thing id maybe worry about with this admittedly epic hack, is the galvanic corrosion between the copper and alu/steel surfaces that are touching

Ill make sure to keep it greased and dry till I make one out aluminium. Thanks for the info! I forgot about that lol
