I can't comment on the Pretoria trails, as I live in the Kaap, but we also have an abundance of badly draining trails here.

There are trails that drain well and can be ridden even in our wet winter. These are mostly old classic trails, built before the Big Berm Boom. But some of the newer trails are built with drainage in mind from the start.

 

I also ride through winter, regardless of hoe wet it may be, but I do mostly ride my SS then.

I love riding in wet conditions, even though I do agree with all of the above and that is why I generally avoid it, not really because of the bike it is what it is in that regard, more about the trails and just respecting that unspoken rule.

What unspoken rule???
