Add the free Sporttracker program from the Nokia website and you have everything  specific for cycling or running   -   ie  altitude, route mapping in google, speeds, keep stats of your rides, share it with your friends; lots of graphs etc. Only thing it does not have is a heart rate monitor

You cant compare it with a Garmin but it is a nice to have if you dont own a Garmin and still wants to have features such as mapping and stats of your riding by just keeping it in your rear pocket. Only problem is you can probably only view details when finishing the ride, while the Garmin shows it "live".

Fand, the GPS is great, if you pay the extra R1k for the Garmin software.  The propriety mapping software sucks!!!!

Battery life is ok-ish.  I use the Sportstrack s/w and the phone dies at about hour 4:30 - 5.

What I meant is you cant hold phone in one hand while riding, so its better to keep phone in back pocket.

I did a 4 hour ride Sunday with the mp3 player with headset on full blast and I received calls in between. It had 3 block left at end of ride. Just need to figure out how to use Google maps with the data from the phone, because one can export it and share it with your riding buddies.

If you use the sportstracker software the track & data can be uploaded to the internet in real time, so your buddies (or more likely your wife) can track you.

You can also get a holder that fits the bars - I think that it is a RAVX

To my knowledge this phone hit the SA market last year round about August or so.  THink it is only becomming mainstream now though.  I will be getting one from the company soon*

* Soon is a relative term though.

Just some clarification on what some hubbers asked/pm'ed or stated:

Fundacious: The GPS and battery life are phone dependant so not knowing which model you are referring to?

Fulmenecilus: The phones currently that are GPS enabled are N78, N95,E90,6110 Nav, 6210 Nav. and Bateleur is right you can view live.

Also some other stuff that Nokia is doing is check out the OVI site, similar to Facebook with Unlimited Media storage.
