Hi all

so my wife has been searching for bikes and we have narrowed it down to the following 1 bike. Need your thoughts on this bike ( components, quality, etc ) The bike is a 2017  model , 10 speed

Should we perhaps continue the search?  Budget is 8k but since she likes this one, will push to 10k .

one of the things im not sure about, is why the mixed gear sets front and back ? I need some critical advise here gents.

You'll need to find out whether the shock was recently serviced. Yes, there are quite a mix of components but they can all work together. What speed is the bike...10/11/12?

A test ride should also be requested and maybe take a friend who knows a bit more about bikes. I can't comment about the seller? Maybe others can contribute?

Who will be riding the bike, you or the missus and what type of riding? A hard tail can be just that " hard on the tail" so correct saddle choice and maybe a carbon seat post might be considered as an upgrade. A hard tail does generally require the rider to get off the seat more often while riding and this generally requires a greater level of fitness and core strength - but that can come in time.

Also do a fine check along all the welds and under the seat post for any fine cracks in the paint. This could be the start of a crack in the frame....good luck with your purchase.

While in South America I bought a second hand XCaliber very similar to this one. Really liked the geometery. And even though it was specced well below my "SA" bike I still had a lot of fun on it.

From the pics looks like it had little use, but Hubbers always tend to be on the cautious side 😉

I will give you an XT front derailleur to match the rear. Solid bike IMO and the guys / seller will be open to negotiate.

Thanks, Id take you up on that Robert
