Forecast for paarl on Sunday is 27max.
nit stupidly hot like 2018 but warm enough for that 3rd bottle to be handy

in 2018 a friend that was doing the short route just filled up at that last WP in KromRhee Road as we were passing him, this was about +-10kms from the finish. He kindly gave me a bottle as nobody wanted to stop in the reduced peloton going to the line. Everyone wanted a sip so we passed it around like we never heard of COVID so everyone could take a swig, ah those were the days

I remember bombing a sip from someone in this peloton too...

I rode with 2x600ml 🤯

I hit the cramp wall so badly I thought I was going to have a heart attack . It was the only muscle not cramping. I finished that race in the ambulance sipping 1L of slow mag

Nah guys.

  • Almost no wind.
  • Not too hot.
  • Mostly flat route (only 1000m of elevation gained in the 160km that doesn't make up the two climbs)

It's all good.

I saw 1400m elevation gained for the long?

Strava route also has it around that number yes, but with two "big" climbs taking up a large chunk of it, if you look at the remaining 160km it's fairly flat and easy going.

There's a good chance this is the post that makes me actually show up

Do it. You can do the climbs at your own pace and find groups to drag you along the mildly undulating kms.

CSA Commissaires will issue limited service vehicles stickers to racing teams on the 170 km and 109 km routes to their discretion.

As expected. Neutral service with water would really have been nice...

It should actually be a given, not just "nice", especially also since ...
