i had to replace the 2 main bearings on the hub . it has xd driver

assembled it feels fine, but when tightened in bike the weel turns heavily

i have assembled it without the free body and tightened it .then it spins fine.

my assumption is the free hub body an main bode pressress together and creatrs friction .

is there a missing spacer or something else im missing

You most likely lost the spacer that sits between the inner bearing of the hub and inner bearing of the freehub body.

A rather specific size as it needs to fit over the axle and its diameter is that of the inner race of the bearing.

there is no washer that sits between the two

Phenning check that the axle on its own cant move side to side , the drive side bearing goes deeper than what you would think.

then the freehub must sit flush on a flat surface i.e. the most inboard bearing needs to be perfectly flush ( this shouldn't be an issue as you said you just replace the hub shell ones )

thanks for input , i reseateted all bearings and pulled as hard a i could . still not quite satisfied , but my wife will just have to ride it

At least you'll be able to keep up then...

On a serious note though, check that the freehub seal is seated properly and that there's no damage to either the bearing journals on the axle or any of the spacers between the bearings.
