I know people dont seem to like loops, but from a spectating point of view this is so much better as you get to see the riders multiple times. I think for a world championships, having some sort of circuit to finish it off is imperative. You can have your initial route going out a bit to get mileage but I do think the end of the race needs to be a circuit and to have a circuit, it needs to be right on the mountain. UCT is the best option for me if Table Mountain is the place.

I fully agree that UCT is ideal. I disagree with “The thing you haven’t considered is a start and finish venue. You cannot start a mtb event at the Waterfront. ” it is possible, and is done around the corner multiple times a year. 

But  a world champs event will definitely need road closures near start and finish. Which brings us back to why UCT and anything against the mountain is ideal. 
 

I just really hope it is done on Table Mountain and not shipped out to Tygerberg.
