Old Hermon timing boards?

Hi hi!

The new 85km distance on the race is a seeding event/option for 2024 CTCT.

Question, do we need our Racetec boards from K2C and the like?

Have to check with some friends that they have theirs then 🤔

Now enjoy Thursday and be a Simba Chippie.

We're not exactly flooded with information about this race hey... I see on their site

Results will be available on the FinishTime website HERE.

so I'm assuming it's not going to be racetec. Guess I'll find out at registration tomorrow, unless someone here goes to registration today in rondebosch

EDIT : nevermind, it says racetec at the bottom of the page, so I'd assume you must use a Racetec bike board (from the MTB events, probably not the road chip)

@Abby.F Could you maybe bring some clarity please ? ☺️

On the ENTRY portal they show your RaceTech board ....

At Vines and Views the RaceTech board is the device used to log the time and then submit to CTCT for seeding.

Best guess this may apply to Old Hermon as well.

Yoh I did not remember that board to be so big, I have a sa timing one that’s 1/4 the size of that damn sign. And I was considering investing in a more aero handlebar 🤣🤣

I was thinking the same thing when trying to tie that board to the Trek Checkpoint. The cables enter the headset from the front and have an outfront mount for my Garmin. I'm considering wearing the board like a Superman badge. 🤣

I removed my garming mount, even more drags. So now I put my race chain freshly waxed for 3/4 watts gain, aero socks/skinsuit/aero road helmet for maybe another 5/6w, to lose it all (and more) to the board 🤣

It’s either that or wear it like a breastplate ⚔️

The bike boards at the Olympics...

At least we know why Saffa mamils never qualify for the olympics, we are simply incapable of dealing with that size board screwing up our aerodynamics 😜

I think it's actually smaller 🤣 also it's a MTB board, for gravel surely a chip would work just as good as for road but hey, whatever, as long as everyone has to display it the same way (on the bars, flat, in front of the cables)
