Aliexpress don't issue invoices either. I print the page with the price etc on it and attach that. This has worked for SA customs.

Thank you for that precious information,  thought aliexpress issues some kind of invoice.

Surprised customs accepts your print out.

AGS prepare their own Invoice for shipping to SA. I have never had an issue with with ZA clearing etc but Aramex  not that quick  in clearing here (say compared to Fedex)

We offer crank based power meters with local warranties.

I wouldnt import anything that would need t9 have warranty coverage. So I am looking at PM I can buy locally.

The Xcadey spider pm on your website is at a similar price point as the magene unit. But there only issue is that the there numerous threads about magenes nondrive crank arm coming lose because of the 1 pinch bolt design.

On the flip side there are also threads about the Xcadey units failing after a few months. So at this point im still doing my due diligence.

How long is your warranty on the Xcadey unit.

I did end up buying one from magene direct. Then use arame global shopper to get it to SA. All in it was under 10k with the chainrings as well. We are getting ripped off here in SA sorry to say 😞

How long have you had the unit and how has it treated you?

Im mainly concerned about the reports of the non drive side crank arm coming loose. I know this may be down to poor installation by not following the manufacturer's instructions.

Yeah, I saw thise too. Had the unit for 5 months without an issue. The left drive side will never come off if installed correctly. I think they were more talking about the pre-load tensioner coming loose and falling out. It is a bit of a strange / over complicated system, but I don't see how it can come loose if installed properly. Basically I'm very happy with my unit

Thanks for the feedback. Did you pay anything else apart from Vat and shipping costs when you imported?

I also found a video that explains what most people get wrong. You first tourque the pinch bolt, then tourque the preload with a 10mm hex and then tourque the preload again with a 6mm hex. This fully secures it.

On a side note. I gave up on Aliexpress orders a few years ago as SAPO started losing packages or orders took 3-4 months to arrive.

Tried my luck again in January on a few orders and all arrived surprisingly quick at my nearest Post Office within 3 weeks.

Aliexpress shipping costs just seem ludicrous to me.

For cycling related items I had a look at, shipping basically cost the same or more than the actual item.

Is this the norm?

I saw a kiddies helmet yesterday where shipping was over R500 000 haha.

There's an app called AliHelper. You put in the link of the item that you want to buy, and the app finds the best combo for price and shipping of that item on Aliexpress.

The power meters come with a 2 year local warranty and all stock is shipped from our warehouse here is SA removing the international hassle of time and customs.

Regarding the non-drive side crank arms, xcadey uses a titanium axle where the non-drive side crank arm uses a direct mount system similar to what is found on rotor cranks which is a far more reliable mounting system than the single bolt pinch bolt.
