You have a seatpost bottle and top tube bag? Doing two laps?
Jokes aside, surely you have 3cm of seatpost available below your bottle?

NOPE, NO space .....

The bottle cage has a tool bag below it that litterally rests on the rear triangle.

And yes, the bike is kitted to do 100-milers, even done a 200km lap on it.

Well..... sort of doing two laps .... :P  Cycling to and from the event, the event itself ... followed by an afternoon cycle with Maritz.

Was speaking to fellow Hubbers, that are vertically challenged .... short seat posts ... after fitting the bag for tools and spare tubes there simply is NOT space for this new board.

This was a nice race, and "thanks" to the wind a hard day in the saddle !!

Enroute to the start ..

The makings of a perfect day for cycling.

I started in the B group.  Did much better than the 99er .... managed to stay ahead of the next batch for much longer ....

This couple was having a nice ride

DD23-15.jpg.45c256a0833940b3d7518299f1051964.jpg

Just past Fisantekraal the wind picked up .... and it picked up quickly and properly !!  I could see the next group some 500m behind me, but they could not close the gap.  On the last long downhill before joining the R44 they came past in small groups.  As soon as we hit the last (long) hill towards the R44 the group slowed way down into the now gale force wind.  I moved over and past the peleton, making best use of the ebike.... and having a proper sufferfest ....

Once on the R44 the wind was a dangerous cross wind, making it near impossible to ride in a straight line.

Once we turned off the R44 past Denneboom Vineyards it was an abolute perfect weather day again .... nice low 20's, absolutely no wind, just perfect ... and awesome views !!

this pic was taken earlier in the route, same stunning views

really enjoyed riding today. But the crosswinds almost took me out. 😳 is there a specific bike i need to get?  Im using a Kestrel Talon (time trial bike converted to road) so it has that sharp knife profile and crosswinds were coming at it like no man’s business. Well done to everyone

I was battling the G group riders and chip did not record at the end. What a great result for my first ever race. 😞  🙂

Had a quick scroll through the results ...

My chip did not record at the start.  But thankfully it recorded my correct finish time.

Scrolling through the pages ... couple of chips did not record at the start.

E-bikes had to register in a separate ride group .... results are added to the normal bikes ....  the whole idea of registering in a separate e.bike group is to NOT influence the results for normal bike riders ....

Big thumbs DOWN for Finish Time 👎

This plastic board has the chip, and your race number on the one side.  The rubber holder, and plastic board gets cable tied to the seat post .... board must be horizontal.

This may work well for 99% of riders.

Some anecdotal feedback ...

Couple of the boards ended at 45 degrees during the ride ... unit twisted on the saddle. wonder why, the rubber really should have held it in place.

Many had some sort of clash with the toolbag.

One gent had to mount the unit at an angle, to miss the Varia.

I was surprised to see how many simply did not mount it visibly ....

Weight weenie racing snakes .... their bikes are clean and the plastic board seems to fit good.

But we know the majority of participants are casual weekend riders ... often with thee biggest saddle bags.

They should add you with your own GPS recording as evidence.

Filter the results per age group ...

LOTS of DQ's .... also way too many DNF's ....

What are some reasons for DQ?
