Tar has always been part of a gravel race. It’s the only real way to connect to different farms so I wouldn’t have an issue tbh. I think if the route was a bit longer with some tar in between, most people would be fine with that.

Yeah, that is what I want to aim for next year. Have a few farmers I need to go and sidle up to in the next few months 😬

Any news on the three riders that needed assistance after a tumble in Karwyderskraal ?

Friend of a friend was doing the short course .... did not see another rider fixing a flat in the road (uhm jaaaa....) ..... ended up with a broken arm, had an operation this morning.  Some unfortunate school fees, but she will be okay.

After Spes Bona ..... thankfully this gent was only rubbing out cramps ...

Anyone perhaps know where pictures can be found?

No official photos unfortunately. Social media your best bet. Sorry...

Another awsome 99er done and dusted, looking forward to 99er 2025.

Raced in the C group: pity the guys didn't work well together to achieve a better time. Just too much wheel suckers waiting for the last 200m climb to sprint for position 999🤣

Organisation was good, only gripe is after sending emails asking about e-bikes in the Trilogy and being refused an entry with an e-bike there were at least 4 e-bikes in AG group and that caused some issues as they couldn't keep up on the tar but on the gravel came powering past only to hold us up on the single track. There were individuals with BG and CG numbers on start line in the AG group as well. There was no "policing" of the start groups. If e-bikes are going to be allowed to ride the Trilogy in future then their own start group is necessary near the back. It is very irritating "yo-yoing" with e-bikers with no riding etiquette.

You have my most sincere apologies!! I made it very clear that this was not an eBike event to RaceTec for the very reasons you stated. Our T&C's stated that eBikes are only permitted in 100km and 51km races. Our shortcoming was that it was not stated in BIG RED letters on the entry page : NO eBIKES. Imagine my horror when I was watching you guys come up Spes Bona and an eBike was about 2km ahead of 2nd place! I immediately phoned head of committee to handle this. We did not award 1st place to the "winner" which understandably ticked him off, although "legally" we were in the right due to our race rules.

We will definitely address this next year.

Sorry guys, we screwed up there!

Thoroughly enjoyed the Trilogy Challenge. Well thought out route with well positioned waterpoints. Was lucky enough not to get a lot of traffic on Klipheuwel. Definitely something that will grow in the future.

Thanks Rudii! I rode the route about 5 times over the last 2 months to check and recheck. We are certainly expecting huge growth on what is a unique event on the SA calender
