Hello all,

I am keen to get a gravel bike. I reside in Ireland so the importing and tax issue is not a issue for me. Need to decide on one of the following On-One bikes:

On-One Free Ranger SRAM Rival 1 Carbon Gravel Bike | Planet X Bikes

On-One Free Ranger Shimano GRX RX810 Gravel Bike | Planet X Bikes

I am keen on the Electric Night colour (although Forest Green looks awesome as well). But unsure which groupset I should go with?

Both have the same wheels, and finishing kit. Both my MTB and road bike have Shimano groupsets so leaning towards the Shimano equipped version. Unless there is a valid reason why I should do the SRAM version. Thoughts?

SRAM groupset in the pink and blue.... sold!

I prefer the shifting on the SRAM for a gravel bike. The padel is behind a fixed lever, so when it's rough and bouncy you don't accidentally change gear while activating the brakes while getting bucked around.

I have Shimano on gravel and road bike, but I ran SRAM on my old Gravel bike and preferred it. It feels more stable

But others will of course disagree and poo poo me.

Neither are bad, so it's splitting hairs and will come back to either/or, marginal preferences and both being on a very rad bike

My advice would be to ride a SRAM-equipped drop bar bike for a few days before you make the call - you either get on with their shifters or you don't.

I don't, and I've tried. But, as above, YMMV.

Stick with Shimano for the shifting muscle-memory and especially the mineral oil brakes (you'll only need one bleed kit and oil stock).

That makes sense. 😁 but definitely going with the electric night colour
