Hi. We would like to purchase a spinning bike. We live in Bethlehem, hence it is just too cold to cycle in the mornings before work. My husband wants to train for the 7weekspoort mtb race end of September. I just want to get some excersize and maybe get more fit.

There are so many different brands of spinning bikes available in SA. Most of them don't have any reviews. Where do we start? I read a heavier flywheel is more realistic and compares best to actual cycling. Then there is spinning bikes working with a chain compared to a belt system. Do you get replacement belts available in SA? So many questions, I don't know where to start. Please help

Both me and my husband will have to use the same trainer, and we don't want to have to keep on changing bikes with the trainer. With a spinning bike, there is no wear and tear on the tires of our bicycles and we can just get on and go. Any feedback regarding my original question? I do appreciate your opinions though. We have given this much thought, but are just clueless regarding makes and after sale service in South Africa with spinning bikes

Carli I recently went through this with my sister.

Two options comes to mind -

1. MiFitness - https://www.mifitness.co.za/

https://www.mifitness.co.za/products/cardio/spinning-bikes/

Currently this unit is on sale - https://www.mifitness.co.za/product/shua-home-use-spinning-bike-black/

Now you talk gym quality, with a national distributor that provides backup to gyms.

Tuan, 060 572 8399, at the Cape Town branch has given me good service.

2. Makro

They have a very range of their house brand Trojan bikes.

My sister bought this entry level -

It serves her well.  Noting she is SHORT, and this was the only bike that fit her.  I have my doubts as to its adjustability for taller people.  Most importantly, it serves her well !!

Makro has a very wide range, both in terms of size, adjustability and settings.

Backup ??

Servicing ??

If these questions are important, rather go with MiFitness.
