Arrie, I hear you. Unfortunately our race costs silly money to host (you won't believe it if I shared numbers) and we also have to pay Racetec, PPA, etc. Every discounted entry would COST US, not just reduce our turnover.Β

Remember, we run this as volunteers as parents of the school kids. We put in 100s of hours, literally without pay and every cent profit we may make goes to the school

Not to give my age away, but long gone are the days of the city subsidising traffic official costs and dozens of schools being able to host bike races as fund raisers... 😒

yes, we do get SOME funding from the COCT as a whole but all traffic costs (officers, vehicles, etc) has to be paid for by us 😞 and these are high!

"Important Note: There will be no number collection or late entries on race day."

Sigh, having to drive to Durbanville twice in a few days for a race sucks.

Me and my son are (correctly) seeded with the tandems at 06:05 but there’s no way we’re going to stick with those fast groups so we want to drop back to a group more our pace. Β Anyone with a 3:45 to 04:00 Argus pace, where are you seeded for the 99er?

My mom and I are also on a tandem and seeded in # at 06:05. I actually thought it was a mistake, i guess not. I think we may fall back as there is no way we are strong enough to hold the pace of those early first groups. I'm a competent cyclist but relatively new to riding a tandem and my mom is not super strong. I feel it may be abit unsafe if everyone is significantly faster than us and flying past from behind, any advice on where to start?

Yup, I got the email. Kenilworth is 1.5x further for me, hence my post.
