Can someone explain why some people won’t use Bikehub Pay when buying?

I get responses to my ads asking for my bank details so they can EFT me for the item. When I suggest they make an offer on the ad (for the amount I agree to sell to them) and pay using Bikehub pay they bail on the deal.

Are these scammers that are blocked from using Bikehub Pay? What’s the reluctance? It’s not the Bikehub Pay fee because they can deduct that from their offer.

If they pay just advise them that you will only send once payment has cleared.  If they bail, then you know they are potential scammers.

It could well be they want it quicker, BHP takes time.  Money has to clear with BH, notifications sent to seller, seller takes time to package and ship, then further steps for approval etc.

If I pay you direct and it clears straight away, I would expect similar urgency of you sending the item.

There’s been a number of suspicious people contacting me about a fork I have for sale. Scammers definitely won’t be using BHP.

Then there’s people (genuine buyers and sellers) who just want a quick transaction and will assume the risk. I think if you’re an instant gratification person you’ll be less likely to choose BHP especially if you’re local to the other party.

Depends on the value. Ive had people ask because at larger numbers…BHP adds a not insignificant amount to the transaction. What usually ends ip happening is, they negotiate the price lower to compensate. Is what it is.

Surely the only "delay" is the time it takes for BHP to let the seller know the money has been payed.

The actual delay is the seller having to wait days for the system to unfold before their money is paid out ... but this has zero bearing on the buyer.  If anything, so much more urgency for the seller to ship the goods .....

Yes, that is a delay, so the only genuine reason will be if you want it quickly. If I pay today and clear, I ask for it to be shipped the same day, It is not only a wait for the system to unfold for the seller but also for the buyer, especially if they want it urgently

To be honest it is worse for the seller, I have shipped items and had to wait almost 5 days to get paid using BHP.  Small value items, I will insist on direct payment and if the buyer is not happy, so be it.  If they have concerns, i tell them to check my profile and rating as a seller.
