Bottelary Hills - Possible New Accommodation/restaurant

Hi guys,

One of my clients bought a farm in the Bottelary Hills trail network - Orange Route and Steeneveld Road runs through his property. We are planning to put up a few one and two bedroom cottages for cyclists that want to stay for a weekend and ride the network, swimming pool, convert the existing f-upped farm buildings and werf area to a coffee shop/restaurant similar to Knus in Paarl, reopen the farms brandy distillery with tasting room, and possibly a boutique hotel at a much later stage (We did L'Ermitage for him in Franschhoek, so it would probably have a similar feel to that).

Guys that ride there regularly, do you think this location would work for this type of facilities? And what other facilities should he think of adding to attract more cyclists?

You had me at Brandy Distillery 😊

Sounds awesome. I live around the corner so wont make use of the cottages but I recon it could work for those further away.

I'd certainly make use of the coffee shop although we are rather spoilt for choice in that area now with SloGo, Hasendal, Plato, Brickfields, Fort Simon & Super Sconti all being in relatively close proximity.

There might also be interest from the 4x4 club? I’m also down the road, if your client needs help with the construction/renovations, I might be able to assist with the structural engineering consulting if needed. The existing buildings along that road looks pretty crummy, might spruce up the neighbourhood pretty nicely!

I'm also close to the trails but I'm sure something similar to Knus will be successful. I'm already supporting SloGo and Brickfields but can drink some more cappuccinos. Assuming this is the area with the flea market / petting zoo?
