Seller not sending paid item(stem)!

Good day all

Just an alert to a profile selling stems on bikehub but keep making excuses to courier the paid item. It was a nice deal and not a lot of money but in all fairness it is the principle that counts.

I would like to believe that we all want to use this platform as a safe space to buy and sell bicycle goods. 
 

In saying this, it took me long to come to this point as I gave the seller numerous attempts to get the item to me before thinking of exposing him but unfortunately he left me no other choice.

Recently dealt with a zero post member for a bike sale, went really well, and a great addition to the community. i dont believe we should ignore newcomers.

A way easier way to deal with newbie sales is to just use (insist on) bikehub pay or just meet in person.

And ofc - if a deal is too good to be true, it probably is!

Looks like a youngster so probably mom or dad’s Investec account.  
 

Is this a scammer? You mentioned low value item, not usually their MO

Thank you for sharing this warning with the community. While we encourage members to share experiences like this through our forums and user reviews, erring on the side of caution I've removed the photos and bank details to protect privacy for the moment.

We've noticed an increase in problematic transactions over the holiday period, often involving poor communication and follow-through rather than outright scams. While it doesn't excuse the behaviour, I'd hope this issue falls into the same category.

We have noted the issue on their account and will follow updates here.

Yes, most likely a youngster taking a chance but still not good for the platform. Just a warning for future reference as this could happen to more users.  Like I said, it is not the price of the item but rather the principle as more and more people could get scammed in this way. I would like to believe if you haven't received your goods after payment that you have been scammed.
