So I got my hands on a VERY NEAT spez riprock 20" that ticked the boxes.

Alu frame, discs & Suspension fork.

Must say I am surprised how well the fork works, not just for cosmetic purposes.

Going from the 16" scott to the 20" I cannot believe how much confidence and skill he developed in just a few days. getting out of the seat and standing on the climbs i was mind blown!!!!

I will change the twist shifter for a rapid fire next week when they open shop, other than that looking forward to see my little one race next year.Riprock20.jpg.79e59abf8bab538b5478c3b6f469102a.jpg

Nice bike 👍

I took videos of Maritz going up a curb ... with a suspension fork and without .... the wheel stayed in contact with the surface so much better with the suspension fork.

The prior year Crown Vee Gem 2.25, the one with the natural side wall, we successfully converted two sets tubeless with not a days trouble, going down to very low air pressure.

This current year model the side wall felt thin and was not confident it will hold and therefor replaced. We need tubeless where we stay and ride.

Your replacement was also a Veetireco tyre correct?
I'm struggling to find options for good 20 inch tyres right now!

Yes but could not get the ligther more xco version. It is a proper burly tyre. Closed my eyes and bought from Bike24, the replacement is at SAPO. If the come more than willing to pass the Veetire onto you to pay it forward. On the school run wil send pics.

These work great. Veetire Co Crown Gem. Done a 20inch that is holding for 4 years, very low pressure but they are finished.040EC65E-416F-4C81-A5FB-327599E1498E.jpeg.c3ca3ee884540d2b16886aad6dca9b84.jpeg

This is the set we are running (tubed for now), but the back is completely done. I'm hoping to go fast and light. Kids bikes are way too heavy already!

Crown Cycles (coincidental crown I believe) has the Crown Gem 20x2.6, but I feel like the 20x2.25 is already plenty of tyre...

They finally arrived.

First ever only purchase from across the great Orange River.

Took about 3 weeks to arrive, import tax and duties below my estimate and the end price being R908. Alot of money bit could not source an alternative. Bought 20 and 24, all three boys sorted.

Is the SA shipping restriction new?

Must be new.

Place my order 2 Feb 2026.

DHL working through SAPO not the best. On Monday the parcel was lost, on Wednesday only arriving in SA between 12 - 14 March, for the local SAPO branch to contact our office with the good news the parcel is with them and they will keep for 7 days. Give me 7minutes and I am there.

Will post picture in next week of the fitment.

This geo block is concerning. What is our alternatives if the local supplier(s) do not bring in 20 and 24 tubeless tyres? It took me 6 months to "chase" tyres in SA from Bontragers to Kenda for my local LBS to sort two sets via Cytek (was special order), unfortunately they are just not fit for our use in the flat land, kids in WC and KZN will probably love them.
